Boston will take the throne as Amazon’s second headquarters. Don’t take my word for it though, this is according to Aiera.
What is Aiera? Well, it is an artificial intelligence system, which was developed by Wells Fargo Securities. In other words, it the banks newest employee, a stock-picking robot, and it thinks that Boston is the city to the bid for Amazon’s second headquarters.
So how does this robot really function? Aiera uses deep learning technology to create predictions. For which city will host the second HQ, the robot analyzed a bunch of factors, such as macro analysis, media sentiment, and how Amazon’s stock price reacted to news coverage.
One example is that, Amazon’s stock price went up an average of 0.78% after Boston was mentioned 190 times by publications discussing the second headquarters.
Aiera also ranked all of the top 20 contestants in the bid and the ones that followed Boston were: Chicago, Atlanta, New York City and Toronto.
Amazon is set to spend $5 billion to build the new headquarters and this move will around 50,000 jobs, which is a major economical boost for any city.
In January, the company released a short list of the 20 finalists who are still in the running for the home of the second HQ.
Amazon is currently in the process of meeting with each of the 20 contestants on the list. They have already visited cities like DC and it is said that the company will make a decision this year on which city will host the second headquarters.
