Scandal has had a good run, but all good things must come to an end, as we have just learned that Season 7 will be the last season for the Scandal television series.
The news come after ABC announced that the series which is produced by Shonda Rhimes will be completed after Season 7 is released.
No one knows how many episodes will be in Scandal Season 7, but the decision to end the show was made by the producer of the hit series, Shonda Rhimes.
“I do think that audiences, especially fans and gladiators, are going to want the story to end in the way Shonda intended to,” ABC President, Channing Dungey said.
The television series, Scandal, was first released in 2012 and it didn’t take long before the sow became a massive hit. The romance between Kerry Washington’s Olivia and Tony Goldwyn’s Fitzgerald Grant, whose character was for several seasons the President of the United States, was a main cause for the huge following and success of the show.
In addition, Olivia Pope and her team handled tough cases involving murder and conspiracies, as well as, scandal issues.
It is said that Olivia Pope’s character was actually inspired by the real-life Washington D.C. crisis manager, Judy Smith, who is also a go-to expert for Hollywood.
A lot of people state that the success of Scandal in ratings and among critics was due to more diverse casting in television.
If you want to learn a fun fact, well then, you should know that when Scandal started, Kerry Washington was the first black female actress to lead a network drama in almost 40 years.
Since it’s inception, Scandal has won a Peabody Award and Kerry Washington was nominated twice for her role as Olivia Pope at the Emmy Awards. Hopefully we get to see Kerry Washington in something just as exciting when the show comes to a full halt after Season 7.
